Tulle Tuesdays

My fondness for tulle shouldn’t be a surprise to you. When I really don’t know what to wear, I grab a colourful tulle skirt, pair it with a simple top, put on my heels (or trainers) and presto: I feel like a million dollars (or euros in my case).

Tulle skirts don’t have to cost that much, you can buy perfect ones at AliExpress for less than € 30. They even make them at your desired length if you ask them. These are your basic tulle skirts, with an elasticated waistband and usually 4 to 8 layers of stiff tulle. These skirts are also perfect for wearing underneath dresses and skirts and give that extraordinary volume I’m always looking for. For softer tulle and layered styles I usually order at Chicwish, Asos or Shein.

The hottest month ever

Be careful what you wish for. While June was a typical Dutch summer month, with showers and only mildly warm, July became a month with some of the hottest days ever measured in the Netherlands. It was uncomfortable at times, but also a chance for me to wear a lot of my summer dresses! Some of these dresses only leave the closet once a year, so you can imagine my excitement about this heat wave. Here is a roundup of what I wore in July.

For the love of lemons

There’s just something about a lemon print that I can’t resist. When Chicwish sent me this skirt to review, I was so thrilled. The print has a distinct 50’s/60’s feel and the fabric is a cool cotton with linen.

The next dress is an all-time favourite. It cost me next to nothing but the quality is very good. I wear it with a tulle skirt underneath, a wide belt to cinch in the waist and feel like a million lemons in it.

This is an oldie, but still in love with it. It has a beautiful boat neckline and the skirt is super wide, just how I like it. Lindy Bop decided to bring back this dress this summer, so it’s still available!

Hearts and Roses

This London based brand makes fun and feminine clothing. Here are a few of my favourites from their summer collection.

Tulle!

Of course I wore tulle. I always wear tulle (okay, not always).

This next skirt from Chicwish is so beautiful and a real eye catcher, despite its soft colour. I wear it a lot, in summer and winter.

This Shein skirt was so pretty, I got it in bright pink and white. I don’t know which one I like best, you decide!

Now on to August. Hopefully a little less warm!

Dreaming of fall

Summer is in full swing, my holiday won’t start for another month and my summer wardrobe is bigger than ever but nevertheless I started dreaming about those fall collections about to be launched soon.

I will try to use my existing wardrobe to show you the trends for the new season that I love! Some of these items are on sale right now and are easy to incorporate in both your summer- and fall/winter wardrobe.

Purple

The nineties are back (have they ever been gone though?) and so is Prince’s favorite color! I love any color, so this is an easy one for me. I hardly ever wear monochrome so I will combine purple with colors like emerald green, red and lavender.

Purple and red! Skirt and bag are from EBay (here and here).
Lavender tulle skirt from EBay combined with stripes.

Satin

Satin, or satin-like fabrics, is already a favorite of mine. I love satin tops especially!

Satiny fabric blouse from Shein Bag is from Woodyallenbags.
Dress from EShakti (sold out).

Cinched in waist

Well, this is an easy one! Almost all my outfits have a cinched in waist. I have an elaborate belt collection which ranges from ultra-thin to super-wide. No need to buy more (yeah, right)!

Sweater from Chicwish, bag similar here

Roses

According to Vogue, rose prints and embroidery will be everywhere this fall. Rose prints so happen to be everywhere in my wardrobe too!

Gorgeous skirt by Allanah Hill (shop here for similar one)
Dress by Heartsandfound (pattern here) made to measure in a rose print fabric (here)

And finally: color!!

Another easy one! Color is my middle name (actually it’s Annechien but that’s a whole different story). The brighter the better according to Vogue, so here we go:

A bright pink skirt (here), just wear it with a red sweater when it gets colder.
Shades of blue! Shop skirt here.
Orange and black! Find skirt here.

Of course there are numerous other trends but these are the ones I like and that fit into my existing wardrobe.

Tell me which trends you are looking forward to!

Collectif love

My favourite pieces from the spring/summer collection 2019 of Collectif Clothing

Spring is here and although the weather has yet to warm up, I’m looking forward to wearing sleeveless dresses and flimsy skirts again. Of course, the clothes from Collectif are amongst my favourites! Collectif has been so kind to send me a few of the products from the collection to review.

My favourite dress of the new collection is the Candice red and white striped swing dress (shop here). I love that the stripes are vertical on the skirt and horizontal on the bodice. This dress is so versatile, you can accessorize it with high heels and a fun bag to dress it up or with a straw bag like the Heidi Summer bag (shop here) and some espadrilles to dress it down. Of course the fit and flare shape is a favourite of mine!

The second item that immediately caught my eye is the crab crossbody bag by Lulu Hun, also featured in the picture with the Candice dress. It’s so fun! I am an avid collector of novelty bags and this one is a perfect addition to my collection (shop here).

When I saw the Matilde Watermelon Gingham Swing Skirt, I had to have it. I mean, what’s not to like: a full swing skirt, gingham and a watermelon print (shop here)! I’m wearing it with the Lorena Plain Top in black (shop here), but you can easily wear it with other colours, like red and yellow (here and here). This versatile top will be a staple in my summer wardrobe!

There are a lot more gorgeous items in the new collection and quite a few of them are on my wishlist: here are a few examples:
